Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouli, has inaugurated a new crude oil pipeline at Al Hamra petroleum port in Al Alamein in the presence of the Ministry of petroleum and mineral resources, Tarek Al Molla

The visit was attended also by a number of key persons including Matrouh governor, EGPC president, WEPCO president and Petrojet president

Al Hamra loading pipeline, which is located 120 Km away from the west of Alexandria and operated by Western Dessert Petroleum Company (WEPCO), is expected to increase port’s capacity to 1 million barrels of oil per day (b/d). this is the main way for developing Al Hamra facilities as it is considered a one of the integrated and accredited specialized ports on the Mediterranean. The port ensures constant crude oil trading and supports the petrochemical projects at AL Alamein. This contributes in maintaining Egypt’s significance as a regional hub for energy trading at Al Alamein

During the visit, AL Molla demonstrated some of the projects that have been carried out, one of which is the fabrication of the crude oil tank no.6 with a storage capacity of 250,000 barrels. The projects aim at increasing the storage capacity of the port to reach 1.5 million barrels to ensure receiving all produced crude oil from companies’ fields working in the western desert field
